Banijay hires Fremantle content head

Banijay Group has appointed a FremantleMedia head of content to oversee the development of all non-scripted formats.

Lucas Green

Lucas Green is joining from FremantleMedia’s UK label Thames, where he was head of development, and will start work in January 2018.

Green will work with the Banijay Group’s local MDs and creative talent on non-scripted formats and will also be responsible for the company’s creative investment strategy.

The aim is to build on the success of Banijay’s existing formats such as The Secret Life of 4-Year-Olds, Survivor, Temptation Island and The Crystal Maze.

At Thames, which is responsible for The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent, Green helped launch new primetime entertainment formats and the revivals of Blankety Blank and The Price is Right.

Before joining Thames, he co-founded his own start-up, Superhero Television, and prior to that was head of development at Princess Productions.

Green said: “It’s a really exciting time to be joining Banijay with their ambitious plans to grow the business. It’s a young company but already has a fantastic slate of international formats and brilliant producers. For me, the opportunity to help cultivate a creative network on a huge scale is a dream job.”

The appointment follows last year’s merger between Banijay and Zodiak.
