Banijay fires up Nimble Dragon deal

7Wonder produced Back to the Land for BBC2

Banijay Group’s international distribution arm Banijay Rights has signed a first-look deal with UK independent producer Nimble Dragon as well as unveiling a slate of new factual shows.

The first series acquired by Banijay from the Cardiff-based prodco is Sun, Sea & Brides to Be (20×60’), produced for pubcaster Channel 4 (C4). The show follows the ups and downs of couples heading to Cyprus to get married.

Banijay has also picked up 7Wonder’s Back to the Land (15×50’), made for BBC2. Presented by Kate Humble, the series meets people who are striving to make their businesses succeed in the British countryside.

Putin & The Mafia (1×60’), from Banijay Group’s KM for France 2 and RTS, looks into the Russian leader’s alleged links with the country’s mafia. The programme has already been pre-sold into several territories.

KM is also behind 60-minute documentary Inside Lehman Brothers for Arte, which examines the investment bank’s collapse 10 years ago. It has been pre-sold to YLE (Finland), Radio-Canada (Canada), RTBF (Belgium), RTS (Switzerland), SVT (Sweden), DR (Denmark) and VPRO (Netherlands).

Carlos The Jackal (1×60’), for France 2, profiles one of the world’s most notorious terrorists and has been pre-sold to RTBF, RTS, SVT and YLE.

Season three of Minnow Films’ SAS: Who Dares Wins (5×60’), produced for C4, and S5 of The Supervet (20×60’), from Blast! Films for the same channel, have also been added to Banijay’s slate.
