Banijay bags digital firm Shauna

Banijay Group has acquired a French company that links brands with social media personalities as part of its plans to expand its digital presence.

Shauna Events has become part of the European production giant following the acquisition, financial details of which were not disclosed.

Created and led by Magali Berdah, Shauna Events creates content for social media networks and forges partnerships between brands and digital influencers, especially reality TV talent.

Banijay Group said the acquisition is part of a wider strategy to break into new business areas and that it plans to expand its digital capabilities “significantly” over the next 12 months.

“The acquisition of Shauna Events is a meaningful first step in our digital expansion. This will allow us to provide multi-support broadcast opportunities to the talent emerging through our TV shows,” said Marco Bassetti, CEO of Banijay Group.
