Bad Neighbours director strikes Sony deal

Zac Efron in Bad Neighbours

Sony Pictures Television has signed a deal with Bad Neighbours director Nick Stoller to develop television series under his fledgling prodco Stoller Global Solutions.

Under the three-year agreement, Stoller will write, develop and exec produce comedies and drama for network, cable and streaming platforms, according to US reports.

Additionally, Stoller Global Solutions has hired Conor Welch, former VP of comedy development and programming at Fox, as producing partner and TV executive.

Welch, who had been at Fox since 2014, was previously head of feature films for comedy website Funny or Die, following a stint as VP of development and production for Ben Stiller’s Red Hour Films.

While best known for his film output, which includes both Bad Neighbours films, Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him to the Greek, Stoller is – alongside his wife, Francesca Delbanco – co-creator, director and exec producer of Netflix comedy Friends From College.

The Stoller Global Solutions-produced series, which follows a group of friends who met at Harvard University as they prepare for life in their 40s, was given a second season order earlier this year.
