Babes’ bus stops off in Europe

Broadcasters in the Netherlands and Slovakia have ordered local versions of a Norwegian reality format in which single women travel the country looking for love.

Babes on the Bus, originally produced by Monster Entertainment for TV Norge, has been commissioned for a 8×60′ series by youth-skewing public broadcaster BNN Netherlands, while TV JOJ in Slovakia has ordered a 13×42′ season.

The show follows 25 female urban singletons who are keen to leave the city behind and find love in the countryside.

Morten Aass, CEO of the Scandinavian production group Nice, of which Monster is a member, said: “There’s a growing realisation that dating has been neglected in recent years and that the time is ripe for a breakthrough format in this genre.”

Endemol picked up the global rights last year and has since made local versions for Vox in Germany, Kanal 5 in Denmark and TF1 in France, while a pilot episode has just been filmed in the US for Fox.
