Azoomee adds CBeebies, CBBC shows

Charlie & Lola is among the series now available on Azoomee

UK SVoD service Azoomee has stocked up on children’s programming by licensing 90 hours of content from the commercial arm of the BBC.

Azoomee has acquired shows including Charlie & Lola, Horrible Histories, Katie Morag, The Next Step, Deadly 60, Nina & the Neurons and Little Human Planet as part of a 12-month agreement with BBC Worldwide.

“These shows explore a wide range of important values, which fit perfectly with our overall mission to provide entertainment that is good for children,” said Estelle Lloyd, co-founder of Azoomee.

Azoomee launched in the UK in July 2016 and is aimed at kids aged five to 11. It costs £4.99 (US$6.22) per month and features a mix of longform and shortform programming alongside games and activities.

The company rejigged its acquisitions department following the departure of its creative director and head of content Sarah Aspinall last year, tapping children’s media veteran Howard Litton to advise on acquisitions.
