AXN captures Candice Renoir from Newen

Sony Pictures Television-owned network AXN has picked up five seasons of French police comedy-drama Candice Renoir from Newen Distribution.

The 48×52’ show will premiere on AXN in Poland, Romania and Hungary this fall, before rolling out on AXN Central Europe in a further 12 countries including Albania, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Macedonia and Slovakia.

Produced by Boxeur de Lune, the show focuses on the eponymous protagonist as she returns to her role as a somewhat dysfunctional police lieutenant following a 10-year hiatus.

The AXN deal is the second for the network in 2017 following sales in Spain and Portugal and arrives on the heels of an agreement struck earlier in September that saw Fox Networks Group pick up the Russian rights.  It has also sold in Germany, Italy and Canada.
