AXN, Amazon remember Absentia

Castle’s Stana Katic stars in and exec produces Absentia

FBI thriller Absentia is returning for a second season on Sony Pictures Television (SPT) network AXN and global streamer Amazon, with production already underway.

Season one, which originally aired on Central Europe-focused AXN as a SPT Networks original commission, was picked up by Amazon at the end of last year.

Season two will debut exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in the US and select global markets including Australia, Germany, India, Israel, Singapore, South Korea, Turkey and the UK in 2019. It will return to AXN in countries such as Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Serbia, Moldova and Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Absentia stars Stana Katic as an FBI agent who, while hunting one of Boston’s most notorious serial killers, disappears without a trace and is declared dead. Six years later, she is found in a cabin in the woods, barely alive, and with no memory of the years she was missing.

Season two continues the story of her readjustment to her life and her investigations into a serial killer and a spiralling conspiracy. Matthew Le Nevez (The Widow) and Natasha Little (The Night Manager) are joining the cast for the second season.

The series is produced by Tel Aviv-based Masha Productions and is exec produced by Oded Ruskin (False Flag), Julie Glucksman, Maria Feldman and Katic. The series was created by Gaia Violo and Matt Cirulnick and is based on a pilot script written by Violo.
