Asian nets bet on Electus formats

A Vietnamese broadcaster is set to air a local version of Electus format Bet on Your Baby, while China’s Dragon TV has recommissioned the US studio’s Fashion Star format.

VTV in Vietnam will air its own version of the gameshow, in which parents try to predict their child’s next move in an effort to win money for their future education. The series airs in the US on ABC.

The format has been sold into territories including China, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and the Philippines, where ABS-CBN has recently ordered a second season.

Meanwhile, Dragon TV has ordered a second season of The Goddesses’ New Clothes, the local version of the Fashion Star format. The coproduction between Electus International, Hitao, Blue Flame and Dragon TV is scheduled to return in 2015.

The format sees six female celebrities design and model themed clothes with the help of professional designers to try and impress retailers.

Fashion Star began airing on NBC in the US in 2012, while the format has also been produced by VTV in Vietnam.
