Asian deals for Nippon’s Silent Library

Nippon TV’s Silent Library

Japanese broadcaster Nippon TV’s unscripted comedy gameshow Silent Library is to be adapted in South East and East Asia for the first time.

Local versions of the Silent Library format will air from September 15 on Line TV in Thailand and from mid-November on VOL+, Mongol TV and its VoD service ORI in Mongolia.

New options have also been inked with 108 Media in Singapore, which will produce the show in Singapore, India, Malaysia, The Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam and Cambodia.

Silent Library was created by Japanese comedian Hitoshi Matsumoto and has been a successful segment on long-running Nippon TV Sunday night variety show Downtown No Gaki no Tsukai ya Arahende!

The format challenges six contestants to remain silent while performing pranks in a library environment. The show has previously been adapted in more than 15 countries including the US and the UK.
