Asia-Pac debut for Discovery Kids

Children’s pay-TV net Discovery Kids will launch across Asia Pacific with India, Indonesia and the Philippines becoming the first three territories to broadcast it.

Discovery Networks International plans to launch the four to 12-skewed channel on April 2, meaning it will now broadcasts eight channels in the region, namely TLC, Animal Planet, Discovery HD World, Discovery Science, Discovery Turbo and Discovery Home & Health.

The move signals a revival for Discovery Kids, which formerly broadcast in the US, UK and Canada but now only airs as a linear channel in Latin America.

The Asia-Pac channels will focus on four core values of being transformational, enquiring, playful and educational. Launch programming will include Mythbusters, Think Big and Wild Kratts, along with Discovery-produced series Headrush.
