Taiwan-based cabsat channel Asia Travel TV has acquired more than 60 hours of programming from MediaCorp of Singapore.
Asia Travel TV, part of the Chinese Satellite Communication Group, licensed 61 hours of variety programmes. MediaCorp said it was one of the largest volume deals signed with a single channel in Taiwan.
Shows acquired by the channel include food- and travel-related series Bliss Seeker, Food Source 3, Footprint Asia, Jobs Around The World, Juz Noodles, Quaint and Street Smart. The satellite channel has also acquired IPTV rights for all the programmes.
The deal follows a 70-hour programming deal inked between the two companies in the first half of 2012. “Asia Travel TV has been extremely supportive of MediaCorp-produced content,” said Tang Yun Leung, VP of content distribution, MediaCorp.
“They have acquired a total of 130 hours of variety content from us in the last year alone. We will continue our efforts to strive for production of more unique and relevant content as demand for variety programmes increases in the region.”
