CTV in Canada has ordered additional episodes of its medical drama Saving Hope. The second season of the ICF Films/Entertainment One show has been bumped up by five episodes to 18, following its well-received first season during the summer.
The hour-long drama averaged 1.7 million viewers per episode, solid numbers for the Canadian market. CTV confirmed its initial second season partway through the first.
Saving Hope also aired on NBC in the US but was pulled toward the end of its first season as it struggled to stay above the three million mark.
“We recognised the opportunity to give fans more from the break-out series they’ve quickly come to love,” said CTV programming chief Phil King. “CTV is proud to make this increased investment in more Canadian programming.”
