A Norwegian broadcaster has bagged exclusive rights to remake Love Productions’ UK format The Great British Bake Off in Norway.
The agreement between Viasat-owned TV3 and distributor BBC Worldwide is the latest deal for the format in the Scandinavian market, with local version Hele Norge Baker (working title) due to air next year.
TV3 has also acquired the rights to air all seasons of the BBC2 version of The Great British Bake Off in Norway.
A local adaptation of the show has already aired on DR1 in Denmark, where the final attracted more than a million viewers this month. A Swedish version is also performing well on Sjuan, sister station of TV4 in Sweden.
The UK format is already into its third season on BBC2 in the UK, after debuting in 2010. Its most recent run was the top-rated programme on BBC2 this autumn and topped six million viewers during the season final this month.
The format has also been sold previously to Australia, Belgium, France, Ireland, Poland, Denmark and Sweden.
