BBC America has ordered a second season of its first original scripted series, Copper, from Cineflix Studios in New York.

The crime period drama, set in New York City in the 1860s, debuted on the US cable network in August this year and has become its highest rated drama.
It will now return in 2013 with an extended 13-episode order, after drawing more than one million viewers each week. The renewal was announced ahead of Copper’s season finale, which will air on Sunday.
BBC America’s second original scripted series, Orphan Black, goes into production at Canada’s Temple Street Productions this month and will premiere next spring.
