Diving format makes more waves

MIPCOM: More international broadcasters have picked up rights to Dutch diving format Celebrity Splash, which is already being produced in the US, UK and France.

Nelonen in Finland and 1+1 in Ukraine have commissioned local versions of the Eyeworks format, know locally as Sterren Springen. This week it was picked up by TF1 in France and ITV in the UK.

Celebrity Splash sees nine celebrities high-diving over a series of elimination rounds, having received training from a professional instructor.

The format is, however, the subject of a row between Eyeworks and Banijay International, with the latter looking into whether Celebrity Splash infringes the copyright of its own TV Total Turmspringen, which also features diving celebrities.

In related news, 1+1 has commissioned a new entertainment quizshow called Just a Show, an adaptation of UK format Family Fortunes.

Unlike the latter, which pitted families against each other, the teams in Just a Show are selected according to factors such as sex, profession or hair colour, such as blondes vs brunettes.
