MIPCOM: French broadcaster Canal+ Group has inked an exclusive output agreement with LA-based Warner Bros covering multiple pay channels.
Warner Bros Entertainment France’s deal with the Paris-based group gives it exclusive pay-TV rights to Warner Bros’ first-run movies and library features on all Canal+ Group pay channels. They include Canal+, Cine+, Comédie+ and Jimmy and associated catch-up services.
The deal comes into effect from next September and allows Canal+ to distribute Warners titles via TV, connected TV, game consoles, smart phones and tablets, either scheduled or on-demand.
Films covered by the deal will include the Hobbit trilogy, Argo, The Great Gatsby and the third installment of The Hangover. Warner Bros previously had an output deal with France Telecom and before that Canal+.
