US cablenet TNT has ordered a second season of Major Crimes, the spin-off of another of its police dramas, The Closer.

The series, about the major crimes unit of the LAPD, will return next summer after receiving a 15-episode order.
It is produced by The Shephard/Robin Company and Warner Bros Television. James Duff, Greer Shephard, Michael M. Robin, and Rick Wallace exec produce.
With an average of about seven million viewers tuning in for the first season, which will conclude in mid-October, Major Crimes is the highest-rated new cable series this year, the Turner Broadcasting-owned network said.
About 9.5 million people watched the season premiere in August, making it basic cable’s most watched series launch ever, TNT added.
The renewal for Major Crimes comes after TNT also ordered second seasons of its other two new dramas this year – its reboot of Dallas, and another crime series, Perception.
