Tricon Films & Television in Canada has picked up the preschool series JiggiJump as the first step of its expansion into kids’ programming.
JiggiJump (25x5′) is currently shooting at Markle Productions and is due to air on CBC in 2013. It’s billed as a “super-energised” combination of live action and CGI, in which two hosts lead kids through physically active “explorations” of animation locations.
It is the first preschool acquisition for the Toronto-based shop and the expansion into kids’ fare will continue with “more partnerships to be announced in the coming weeks,” according to senior VP of distribution and business development Jon Rutherford.
