Channel 4 enters New World

Channel 4 in the UK has ordered three new dramas, including a sequel to 2008 historical series The Devil’s Whore.

New World (4x60′) is written by Peter Flannery and Martine Brant and takes place after the events of The Devil’s Whore, set in the 1680s when New England colonists are struggling to break free from control of the English monarchy.

It is a Company Pictures production, produced by Johann Knobel and exec produced by George Faber and Charlie Pattinson.

C4 has also greenlit Home Before Dark (4x60’), written by Abi Morgan (The Hour), which is described as an international thriller set in Italy, America and London. It follows the hunt for a killer and looks at how the internet can corrupt or be corrupted by those who use it.

It is produced by Cowboy Films and exec produced by Kevin Macdonald, Charles Steel and Alasdair Flind.

Dates (9x30’), written by Bryan Elsley (Skins), is a comedy drama featuring a series of couples on a date, produced by Balloon Entertainment.
