The co-creator of US sitcom Modern Family is one of three television personalities who will be honoured at the 50th Natpe market and conference in Miami next year.
Steve Levitan has joined John Langley (creator of Cops) and Debra Lee, CEO of BET, as three of the four recipients of the Brandon Tartikoff Legacy Awards. The fourth will be announced later this year alongside the names of keynote speakers lined up for the three-day event in January.
The awards aim to recognise executives who exhibit “extraordinary passion, leadership, independence and vision in the process of creating television programming.”
Natpe president and CEO Rod Perth said the market had received commitments from all major US distributors to attend, including Debmar-Mercury, Electus International, FremantleMedia Enterprises, MGM Worldwide Television and Lionsgate International, as well as Latin American companies such as Globo TV, Univision and Venevision.
He also said attendance was due to be in line with last year. The event’s theme will be Beyond Disruption, which Perth explained would examine how content, advertising and technology are changing business models.
Perth replaced former president and CEO Rick Feldman in May this year.
