London-based indie Blink Films has produced a one-off doc for the Smithsonian Channel about an ancient text that could prove the existence of Jesus’s wife.
The Gospel of Jesus’s Wife will premiere on the US cablenet on September 30 at 20.00 (ET/PT) as part of its Treasures Decoded series of programmes.
The doc follows a team of scholars from Harvard University who have been working to decipher a fourth century text written in the ancient Egyptian Coptic language that refers to the wife of Jesus Christ. The text was written on a fragment of papyrus that was brought to Dr Karen King at Harvard Divinity School by a private collector.
History Channel in Canada is also preparing to air the doc, which is distributed by BBC Worldwide.
The executive producers of the one-off doc for Smithsonian Channel are David Royle and Charles Poe.
