Voting starts in C21/Frapa awards

Online voting is now underway in the annual C21/Frapa International Format Awards, but it’s not too late to enter your format.

Format awards 2012

After a hard week of pitching, screening, negotiating and traipsing up and down the Croisette at Mipcom, what could be better than a sunset cocktail at ClubC21 for the C21/Frapa International Format Awards? You might even walk away with one of the coveted gongs?

As the event enters its sixth year, we’ve made an important change to the proceedings. This year will see a two-tier voting system for the first time, bringing a judging panel of top international format buyers into the mix.

This is how it works. C21’s community of 40,000 international TV executives will vote online for their favourite formats between now and October 2. On that day, each member of the C21/Frapa Format Awards buyer panel will vote for their favourite shows from the top five entrants in each category, with these second round votes collated by October 4. These votes will decide the winners in each category.

So get voting, and make sure your favourite formats are in the top five to have a chance to win! The final judging panel will be announced on September 17. The awards ceremony will take place at 7.30pm at ClubC21 in Cannes on Wednesday, October 10.

You can still enter your format in the awards but be quick as Mipcom is just around the corner. Here’s the line-up as it stands right now:

6. Best Scripted Format
Scripted formats are becoming more and more important and this category will be hard-fought. Among the contenders are Day & Night (All3Media International), Kuzey Guney (Sparks Network), The End (Sparks Network), Street Justice (Armoza Formats), The Kitchen Musical (Small World IFT) and From Riches to Rags (RCN Television).

7. Best Brand Driven Format
A relatively new category, and one that again is becoming more important every year. Candidates to vote for include Fashion Star (Electus International), Find My Past (Lion TV) and National Spelling Competition (Endemol).

That’s how the candidates stand at the moment, but you can still enter formats. To do so, or to vote in these awards, click here. See you all at 7.30pm at ClubC21 in Cannes on Wednesday, October 10!
