YouTube will air football highlights from Italy, France, Brazil and the UK through a new partnership with sports media rights agency MP & Silva and online video distributor Rightster.
MP & Silva’s Love Football channel is live now on YouTube and will include highlights from Italy’s Serie A, France’s Ligue 1, US Major League Soccer, Brazil’s Serie A and the English Championship, FA Cup and Capital One Cup.
Interview clips with players and managers will also feature on the channel, along with documentaries and behind-the-scenes footage.
MP & Silva CEO Andrea Radrizzani said, “in addition to highlights clips our new channel gives us the ability to stream live sports content. We can now for the first time engage directly with consumers and football fans on a global scale.”
Stephen Nuttall, senior director of sports for YouTube EMEA, added: “Our ambition is to establish YouTube as a destination for goals and highlights.”
Rightster, which will help to deliver the MP & Silva’s content to YouTube and control its geographic restrictions and release windows, recently launched its own studio arm to finance original online programming and channels.
MP & Silva owns, manages and distributes TV and media rights to sports events around the world and claims to have an annual turnover in excess of US$350m. The company provides more than 10,000 hours of programming a year to some 200 TV broadcasters.
