This is Spinal Tap creator Christopher Guest and actor Chris O’Dowd are attached to a new BBC2 and HBO mockumentary from NBCUniversal International (NBCUI).
Guest has penned comedy series Family Tree, which will star O’Dowd (Bridesmaids) as a man who finds a box of family secrets after losing his job and girlfriend.
The series represents the latest major collaboration between the US premium paynet and the UK pubcaster. They previously hooked up on Matt LeBlanc-fronted Episodes and just this week Time Warner-owned HBO ordered a pilot of BBC4 comedy Getting On.
UK prodco A Lucky Giant, owned by NBCUI Television Production, will produce the show, which is expected to comprise eight episodes and air next year.
