Discovery Channel Canada has ordered a new competitive reality show that will see clapped out cars destroyed while one gets treated to a “$10,000 ride-pimping restoration.”
Proper Television in Toronto has started work on Last Car Standing for the Bell Media-owned specialty network, looking to deliver the 8x60′ series for airing in winter 2013.
Each episode will see the owners of five horribly run-down cars race against each other through various courses and challenges. Losers see their cars ceremonially destroyed, while one will win the grand prize of a lavish revamp.
Proper is looking to format the show.
“It’s packed with horrendous vehicles competing on unbelievable race courses. We really think it’s going to be a noisy, exciting crowd-pleaser,” said Proper president Guy O’Sullivan, who also exec produces.
