Sports broadcaster ESPN has launched a new football brand and updated its Goals app for smartphones ahead of the start of the English season this weekend.
ESPN has lost its live rights to UK Premier League football from the start of next season but will air 23 matches in 2012/13, mainly on Saturdays at 17.30.
To compliment that coverage it has launched ESPNFC online on mobile devices and TV. The new venture succeeds ESPNsoccernet and will offer ESPN coverage on Apple, Windows and Android mobile platforms.
In addition, ESPN will debut discussion show ESPNFC PressPass on TV, while its Goals app, which provides highlights of Premiership games on mobile, will have increased content this season including match previews.
