ITV1 has commissioned a sequel to its supernatural drama series Marchlands, based on a Fox pilot from 2008.
The UK broadcaster first developed five-parter Marchlands, based on Fox’s The Oak and written by Stephen Greenhorn (Doctor Who), in 2010.
Lightfields (5x60′) sees ITV return to the format for a second time, with a different writer (Simon Tyrell), director (Damon Thomas) and producer (Cherry Gould).
The series focuses on three families living in the same house in different time periods, linked by the spirit of a girl who died in mysterious circumstances.
Marchlands was set in Yorkshire during the 1960s, 1980s and 2010, while Lightfields will be set on a farm in Suffolk in 1944, 1976 and the present day.
The Oaks was developed for Fox by David Schulner via 20th Century Fox Television, but was not picked up for series by the US network.
