ITV Studios has appointed Miramax’s former European sales head to the newly created post of senior VP and director of global digital media and home entertainment.
Dan Gopal will report to ITV Studios’ executive VP of consumer products Jean-Philippe Randisi and will oversee ITV Studios Global Entertainment’s (ITVS GE’s) home entertainment business around the world, working to boost digital sales.
The move comes as UK-based ITV Studios aims to expand “internationally and across digital platforms” and adapt to an “increasingly platform-agnostic landscape,” said Randisi.
Gopal said he aims to give a global audience the chance to consume ITVS GE content on “whatever their preferred format, platform or device.” He will work with ITV Studios’ existing DVD and TV sales teams.
Previously, Gopal was head of sales and operations for Miramax in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), where he helped to establish Miramax’s European distribution business, while the firm was still under Disney’s ownership.
Before this he held a string of senior roles at The Walt Disney Company, including head of video and digital media distribution at Disney Media Distribution in EMEA.
ITVS GE is an international TV distributor that represents over 40,000 hours of content from 3,000 broadcasters around the world.
