UKTV and a host of other European broadcasters have picked up a documentary from Electric Sky about the threatened extinction of seahorses.
The Seahorse Man (1x52′) is produced by Irish indie GMTV and follows marine biologist Kealan Doyle on his quest to save the seahorse.
The animals are caught en masse for the Chinese traditional medicine trade and could die out within 20 years.
UKTV will air the one-off doc on Eden on Friday August 24. UK- and Hong Kong-based distributor Electric Sky has also sold the show to Italy’s Rai TV, Finland’s Nelonen, True Visions in Thailand, Planete in Poland and Multicanal Iberia.
