VH1 greenlights reality, comedy

US cablenet VH1 is targeting adults who are balancing responsibilities with a desire to stay current with its new factual, comedy and reality commissions.

The Viacom-owned channel is creating a Friday night comedy block for 2013 and will return Best Week Ever to the schedule for the first time in three years, alongside new commission Miss You Much (8x30′).

Miss You Much features host Catherine Reitman tracking down forgotten TV and movie actors and popstars from the past 20 years. A one-hour preview of the show will air on Sunday September 9 at 22.00 (ET/PT).

VH1 has also ordered Grand River Singers Project (working title) from Tremendous! Entertainment, which will profile a US choir, and Harlem-based tattoo series Black Ink, from Big Fish Entertainment.

The channel is also working on 100 Greatest Kids Stars, a five-part series finding out what became of some of show business’s biggest child stars.

In addition, VH1 has acquired Ice-T’s feature-length documentary Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap for its Rock Doc programme block.
