CCI goes back to production for Ion

Canadian producer and distributor CCI Entertainment has returned to original production with a new telemovie for US channel Ion Television starring Back to the Future’s Christopher Lloyd.

Anything But Christmas (1x88′) is a festive film also featuring Elaine Hendrix (90210) and Sergio Di Zio (Flashpoint) about a single mother who discovers her new man hates the festive period.

The script was written by Peter Woodward and it is exec produced by Charles Falzon and Arnie Zipursky. Filming is taking place in British Colombia ahead of an October 1 delivery date.

The show has also been pre-bought by Alliance Films for Canada and Momentum Pictures has UK rights. It will be launched worldwide by CCI at the Toronto International Film Festival and Mipcom this year.

CCI has recently been building its slate of acquired films but Anything But Christmas marks its return to original production.

Rekha Shah, CCI’s VP of distribution, said the company’s relationships with broadcasters – in North America and internationally, particularly in Spain, France and Germany – had driven its push into acquisitions.

“We moved into acquisitions because we have good relationships on the television side where we know what works with buyers,” she said.

“We’re now focusing on the TV movie market. It’s a small market but with Anything But Christmas we have homed in on what we feel is a good formula in terms of what the market can handle.”
