US cablenet The Weather Channel has joined networks including NHK in Japan and Germany’s ARD in picking up a landmark climate change documentary series slated for 2013.
Tipping Points (6x60′), from Australia’s Unboxed Media, follows a group of scientists who examine the elements that are making our weather system more extreme and unpredictable.
The series, hosted by polar explorer and climate journalist Bernice Notenboom, will look at the idea that small changes in one place can have major, long-term effects on the climate elsewhere.
The Weather Channel has taken US rights. Around the world, Canvas in Belgium, VPRO in the Netherlands and The Australia Network will all air the series, as well as ARD and NHK. The show is due to premiere on Weather in October 2013.
