The Sundance Channel is launching in Thailand and expanding its VoD offering in China and Europe.
AMC Networks is adding the channel to TrueVisions, Thailand’s largest pay-TV operator and the second largest DTH platform in South-East Asia. Sundance will air 24/7 in high-definition with subtitles.
In China, Sundance-On-Demand will launch on BesTV, an IPTV platform operated by Shanghai Media Group (SMG), making its catalogue of independent films available in the country for the first time.
SMG will also carry Sundance content on its TV Everywhere service to subscribers via mobile and table devices.
In Europe, Sundance is expanding its VoD offering with a launch on Belgacom in Belgium and a partnership with French cable operator Numericable that will make drama series Mad Men available on-demand to subscribers alongside Sundance’s existing linear channel.
The news follows Sundance’s launch of a TV Everywhere initiative in Spain earlier this month.
The Sundance Channel has debuted in a number of new territories this year including Taiwan, South Korea, the Netherlands, Belgium and France.
Bruce Tuchman, president of AMC/Sundance Channel Global, said: “We’ll continue to pursue expansion across linear and on-demand platforms, including TV Everywhere initiatives, to offer audiences wider access to our iconic content on an authenticated basis to reinforce the high value of the pay-TV ecosystem.”
