The first overseas version of BBC1 entertainment format Epic Win is in the works after a Ukrainian broadcaster acquired rights from BBC Worldwide (BBCWW).
Ukraine’s 1+1 network has picked up the rights to the talent show that sees members of the public show off their skills to a panel of comedians and celebrities. The (12x60′) Ukrainian version is due to air this autumn.
BBCWW has also agreed its first deals with Macedonian pubcaster MRT, which will remake Dancing with the Stars under the name Strictly Come Dancing – the same title it goes by in the UK – and air it this autumn.
The format is already a hit elsewhere in Central and Eastern Europe, having sold to broadcasters including TVN in Poland and HRT in Croatia.
MRT has also picked up the rights to reality singing contest Just the Two of Us. The local version of the show (already been remade in Croatia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Russia and Ukraine) will air next spring.
Both Dancing With the Stars and Just the Two of Us will run for 12 episodes, with the premieres and finals to run for 90 minutes, and the rest of the episodes coming in at 70 minutes.
The sales follow the Natpe Budapest conference (formerly Discop East) in Hungary last month.
