A management restructure at Discovery Networks Western Europe has seen three senior executives promoted and handed additional roles.
Current chief financial officer Yitz Shmulewitz has been promoted to the newly created position of chief operating officer/CFO.
His new COO responsibilities will see him work with Dee Forbes, president and MD, on business development and growth opportunities.
Nicolas Bonard, currently senior VP for Discovery Enterprises International, has been appointed general manager France and Discovery Enterprises International.
The task of leading Discovery France has been added to Bonard’s existing role, leading Discovery Enterprises where he oversees distribution of third-party programming, licensing and merchandising activities.
Alexander Nielsen, meanwhile, has been promoted from research director for the Nordic region to the new role of country manager Norway and research director Nordic. He will report to Jan Andreassen, general manager, Discovery Networks Nordic.
Forbes said the appointments were part of ambitious growth plans for the company in Western Europe.
Discovery recently launched free-to-air channels in Italy and Spain, rolled out lifestyle channel TLC across Europe and took a 20% stake in French pay-TV business Televista.
