Discovery Networks has acquired an Eyeworks-produced factual series set in an Australian hospital for its European channels.
Kings Cross ER (10x30′) is produced by Eyeworks’ Australian arm and began airing on Foxtel’s Crime & Investigation Network and New Zealand’s TV3 in February.
Eyeworks Distribution previously sold the series to Discovery Networks in the US, where it premiered on Discovery Fit and Health on June 30 under the title ER Nights.
Discovery has picked up the series for its channels in the UK, Benelux, Scandinavia and Central and Eastern Europe.
The show looks behind the scenes at St Vincent’s hospital – one of the world’s busiest – in the Kings Cross district of Sydney. Patients range from rock stars, celebrities and billionaires to the homeless and destitute.
The news comes a day after Oliver Fuchs, CEO of Eyeworks Germany, left the prodco to become head of entertainment at ZDF.
