Travel carries more Baggage

Travel Channel in the US has greenlit second seasons of two of its original series, including reality auction show Baggage Battles.

Battles, produced by My Tupelo Entertainment, follows a group of characters who try their luck at auctions around the world by bidding for items of lost luggage. Filming on an additional 14x30′ episodes will begin in July.

The second season of Hotel Impossible (13x60′) will also begin filming next month. The show, produced by Atlas Media, sends ‘fixer’ Anthony Melchiorri to transform the fortunes of struggling hotels.

In April, Scripps Networks Interactive-owned Travel Channel extended the first seasons of both Baggage Battles and Hotel Impossible before either had aired their first episode.

Earlier this year, Scripps paid £65m (US$102.7m) to acquire Travel Channel International, the UK-based distributor of the Travel Channel brand across EMEA and Asia Pacific.
