France’s StudioCanal has come onboard as co-financier of upcoming Baby Cow and BBC Films feature The Alan Partridge Movie.
The film, based on the Steve Coogan character co-created by Armando Iannucci, will be released in August next year. StudioCanal will handle UK theatrical rights and Embankment Films international sales.
“This is without doubt the greatest Anglo-French co-operation since the Normandy landings. This time, the heroes aren’t Allied servicemen – they’re motion picture financiers, who are equally brave,” said Partridge, via Coogan.
The news comes after Sky Atlantic in the UK last night aired Alan Partridge: Welcome to the Places of My Life (1x60’), the first in a number of specials that see Coogan’s character move away from the BBC for the first time.
