Turkish operators expand movie deal

A pair of Turkish pay-TV companies has extended a three-year movie channels deal, with the agreement now covering more channels and a video-on-demand service.

Teledunya, which claims to be Turkey’s only cable platform, has extended the number of movie channels it carries from pay-TV networks operator SinemaTV from five to 10 – six in HD – and will now offer its customers the Sinema Now VoD service free of charge.

Four-year-old Sinema’s movie bouquet comprises SinemaTV, SinemaTV 2, family-skewed SinemaTV Aile, SinemaTV HD, SinemaTV HD2, action-themed SinemaTV Aksiyon, romance-focused SinemaTV Aşk and ‘must-see movies’ channel SinemaTV 1001.

“Our sole aim is to be the most qualified and progressive movie channels service provider in Turkey and to spread this service to neighbouring countries and even to neighbouring continents,” said SinemaTV chairman Fatih Oflaz, the Turkish exec who was last year embroiled in a local carriage row with MTV.
