A pan-African broadcast group is forging links with Latin America after picking up a telenovela from Caracol TV International.
Kenya-based Wananchi Programming Group has acquired rights to the Colombian distributor’s Mariana & Scarlett (112x60′), which will air on its Zuku-branded pay-TV networks in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Burundi, Eritrea, Malawi, Zambia and Sudan.
The story follows two sisters, a fashion designer and a model, whose lives take different paths after the death of their mother. The Colombian show will be dubbed into English and is due to air later this month.
