The Jim Henson Company is developing a new children’s series based on the stage musical John Tartaglia’s ImaginOcean.
The 52x11′ project comes from Tartaglia’s recent off-Broadway play about tropical fish and is heading to MipTV looking for coproduction partners, the company said on Tuesday.
“John’s humour and music-filled story is a perfect fit for us,” said Lisa Henson, CEO of The Jim Henson Company. She and Henson colleague Halle Stanford will exec produce with Tartaglia, Jill Shinderman and Michael Shawn Lewis for Jellyfish Jive Productions.
The series will use proprietary ‘digital puppetry’ technology, re-creating the black light effects of the stage version.
