BBC1 has commissioned a sixth season of 1960s crime drama George Gently from Company Pictures.
The Northumberland-set series, which will consist of four feature-length films, is currently filming on location in Durham and the North East and is due to air on BBC1 later this year.
BBC1 controller Danny Cohen and controller of BBC drama commissioning Ben Stephenson ordered the new series.
