Swedish broadcaster TV4 has appointed a new head of distribution following the departure of Märta Rydbeck, who is leaving to join Ericsson.
David Österlund, who has been with TV4 Group for 14 years and was most recently head of business development for the company’s distribution arm, takes over the post on October 1.
He replaces Rydbeck, who has been appointed head of broadcast managed services as Ericsson. Österlund will report to TV4 director of scheduling Malte Andreasson.
“In an increasingly complex market, distribution becomes more important. I look forward to working towards finding a balance between traditional television distribution, young platforms such as the internet, but also new distribution platforms for broadcast and VoD, and developing them,” said Österlund of his appointment.
Earlier this year, TV4 appointed a new CEO after incumbent Jan Scherman was upped to VP of the broadcasting group’s parent company.
Casten Almqvist will become CEO on January 1, 2012, with Scherman moving to the management team at Bonnier Broadcasting after 21 years at TV4 Group, Sweden’s largest broadcaster.
