Martha and friends unveil web series

Lifestyle guru Martha Stewart has revealed the first fruits of her partnership with AOL and US animation house A Squared Entertainment (A2).

Children’s web series Martha & Friends consists of 26 shortform webisodes featuring a 10-year-old Stewart who solves problems along with her three best friends and two dogs.

The series goes live bi-weekly from today via AOL Kids on a dedicated website that includes games and how-to activities. A 30-minute special, Martha’s Fourth, broadcasts at 09.00 on stateside cablenet Hallmark Channel to celebrate American Independence Day.

The series is the first title to come from Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia’s (MSLO) partnership with Andy Heyward’s A2 and online media group AOL, which was set up in 2009.

A2 and AOL have similar agreements with billionaire entrepreneur Warren Buffet and model Giselle Bündchen, which have spawned web series such as Secret Millionaire’s Club and Giselle & the Green Team.

A2 recently lost what could have been its biggest production to date, when Arnold Schwarzenegger pulled the plug on the pair’s planned series The Governator, amid explosive revelations about the star’s personal life.
