APT follows cancer survivor to North Pole

US syndication giant American Public Television is onboard a one-hour documentary about two-time cancer survivor Sean Swarner’s trek to the North Pole.

Philadelphia-based The WorkShop has begun production on True North: The Sean Swarner Story, which will follow Swarner’s attempt to become the world’s first cancer survivor to complete the Explorers Grand Slam.

To complete the challenge, adventurers must climb the highest mountain peaks on each of the seven continents, including Everest, and reach both the South and North Poles. Swarner is one challenge away from completing the feat.

The doc comes after The WorkShop reached a new talent agreement with Swarner.

“To reach the North Pole, he must ski, snow-shoe, swim and climb, all while towing a 300-pound sled of supplies for nearly 500 miles. For both Sean and the producers, it will be no easy task,” said Tom Farrell, The WorkShop’s CEO and executive producer.
