Apple’s Carpool Karaoke revs up for launch

Carpool Karaoke is a spin-off from The Late Late Show with James Corden

Apple has confirmed the premiere date for its show based on James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke format having delayed its launch earlier this year.

Carpool Karaoke: The Series will become available exclusively via Apple Music on August 8.

The show, produced by CBS Television Studios and Fulwell 73, was originally scheduled to arrive in April, but Apple delayed the release.

It will mark the first original TV show for the tech giant’s subscription streaming service and is set to feature celebrities such as Will Smith, Alicia Keys, Ariana Grande and John Cena.

Carpool Karaoke first emerged on Corden’s late-night talkshow on CBS, also produced by Fulwell 73, and saw celebrities singing along to famous songs as the British presenter drove them around.

No date has been set for the launch of Apple’s second original series, the Will.i.am-fronted competition reality show Planet of the Apps from Howard Owens and Ben Silverman’s Propagate Content.
