Apple TV seeks cast for app series

The producers behind Apple’s first TV series have put out a casting call for the show, which will explore the world of app creation.

Propagate, the LA-based production company owned by Ben Silverman and Howard T Owens, is hunting for tech entrepreneurs in San Francisco, LA, Austin and New York to appear in Planet of the Apps.

The series will be coproduced by Propagate and Apple and executive produced by Silverman, Owens and pop star will.i.am.

“Planet of the Apps will give app creators the chance to break through and share their ideas with the world. This is an exciting format that taps into what is driving culture today,” said Silverman and Owens, co-CEOs of Propagate.

The company is set to launch its distribution arm at Mipcom in October.

Its unscripted development slate includes Lore, based on the podcast and coproduced with Gale Anne Hurd’s Valhalla Entertainment, Unprotected for Oxygen, Evil Genius for History, My So-Called Simple Life (working title) for FYI and Animal ER for National Geographic Wild.
