Apple to revisit Terry Gilliam’s Time Bandits

The 1981 movie version of Time Bandits

US tech giant Apple has picked up the rights to adapt Terry Gilliam’s 1981 fantasy film Time Bandits into a TV series for its forthcoming SVoD platform.

The show will be a coproduction between Anonymous Content, Paramount Television and Media Rights Capital (MRC). Former Monty Python comedy troupe member Gilliam will executive produce the show as a non-writing partner alongside Anonymous and MRC.

Time Bandits follows the time-travelling adventures of an 11-year-old history buff after six dwarfs emerge from his cupboard.

The original production was made by Handmade Films, the company from former Beatles guitarist George Harrison and Denis O’Brien that was behind 1979 Monty Python comedy Life of Brian.
