American Idol heads to Canal Sony

ABC’s American Idol judging panel

Latin American entertainment channel Canal Sony has picked up US singing reality show American Idol.

The series, which previously aired on Fox and is being rebooted by ABC in March, is produced by FremantleMedia North America and 19 Entertainment, a division of Core Media Group.

FremantleMedia International distributes the series, which previously aired on the Lat Am network.

The new season will be part of Canal Sony’s Sigue la Música strategy for its primetime segment, showcasing talent competitions such as The Voice (US), The X Factor (UK) and America’s Got Talent.

Available in Latin America, Canal Sony is a general entertainment network that offers a wide range of content, including dramas such as Anatomía según Grey, Escándalo and Lecciones del Crímen; comedies including Cómo conocí a tu Madre and Blackish; and musical reality shows.
